Einleitung

• Was mache ich überhaupt in Australien?
  Ich führe mein Studium ein ganzes Semester im Ausland weiter. Genauer gesagt an der QUT in Bribane. Brisbane liegt an der Ostküste Australiens im schönen Bundesstaat Queensland (Sunshine Staate) und hat etwa 1,7 Mio Einwohner.

• Welchen Grund gibt es für ein Auslandstudium?
  Nun der wichtigste Grund für mich, war wohl die Sprache weiter zu vertiefen. Alle Vorlesungen, Tutorials, Practicas, Pubs und sonstige Konversationen werden in Englisch gehalten. Somit ist man ein halbes Jahr gezwungen Englisch zu reden und die Sprache weiter auszubauen. Die Kurse, die ich hier besuche, werden in Deutschland anerkannt und somit verliere ich keine Studienzeit.

    Info über die QUT

Die QUT oder besser gesagt Queensland Universtiy of Technology besteht aus drei Standorten innerhalb Brisbanes. Mein Standort - Gardens Point - liegt in einer grünen Oase im Stadtzentrum. Die QUT ist die größte Uni des Bundesstaates QLD und an ihr studieren insgesamt 40.000 Studenten.

    Meine Kurse an der QUT

• Allgemeines
  Insgesamt besuche ich hier in Australien vier Hauptkurse. Das hört sich im ersten Moment ziemlich wenig an. Stimmt! In Deutschland sind 10 bis 15 Kurse pro Semester normal. Aber vier Kurse hier in Australien entsprechen dem, was der normale Student hier pro Semester belegt. Das hängt damit zusammen das jeder Hauptkurs aus mehreren Kursen besteht (Lecture, Practical, Tutorial, Pass). Meine Kurse sind Informatiklastig. Das hat den Grund da die Elektro-Kurse hier in AUS sich nicht gut mit denen in DT decken. Die Informatikkurse werden aber als Technische Wahlfächer anerkannt.

• ITB004 Database System

Content  
You will learn basic database concepts and terminology; the creation and modification of a relational database schema using SQL; the retrieval and modification of the contents of a relational database using SQL; and the development of a database system in Access (a commercial database management program).
You will also develop an understanding of the theory of how to design a new database; the basics of designing good user-interfaces; 3-level architecture; integrity constraints; security and privacy issues; and transaction processing.

• ITB005 Systems Architecture
  

  Content   This unit introduces you to:

• the fundamental concepts of contemporary computer systems including hardware devices, networking components and systems software;
• the structure of well-designed computer systems;
• different system architecture designs;
• the relationship between the components of contemporary computer system by use of case studies;
• practical skills in a variety of modern operating systems and other systems software;
• the role of contemporary devices (eg. mobile, medical and robotic devices) in computer systems;
• security and ethical issues in designing and administrating computer systems; and Linux operating systems.

• HHB108 Australian Society & Culture for International Students

Dieses Fach hat natürlich nichts mit meiner Fachrichtung zu tun. HHB108 hab ich aus eigenem Interesse genommen um Land und Geschichte besser zu verstehen.

Synopsis
This unit provides students from overseas with experiences and knowledge that enhance their understanding of contemporary Australian society. Largely focusing on the past 100 years, and especially the last fifty, the unit examines topics that provide understandings of our country’s uniqueness. The lectures are informative with videos frequently utilised to consolidate aspects of each topic. Tutorials are student-centred with discussion encouraged.
